Fairy Tales from a Lost Land and Scarlet Dreams

Gallery OED, Kochi presents the solo shows of K.T.Mathai and Sujith KS. The shows titled ‘Fairy Tales from a Lost Land’ and ‘Scarlet Dreams’ were opened on 13th December 2008. Mathai’s works deal with the silent incursions of imperial forces even in the remotest parts of the world. He takes his village as an emblematic land and using a beautiful narrative structure brings in the poignancy of environmental depletion thanks to ‘development and progress.’ The show is curated by JohnyML. Meanwhile, the works of Sujith KS exemplify the goriness of our times. Sujith creates a mythology of his own and introduces mythical creatures in his works in order to define the mental state of human beings.
